He said in a statement: “There’s nothing like performing in front of your home crowd, especially when it’s been a while.
“I can’t wait to finish the year on such a high by partying in Liverpool, Glasgow and London.
“We’ve freshened up the show since our last time round and we are excited to get to play some of our new songs along side some of the favourites.”
The jaunt is also playing internationally; starting with Canada in September.
The British dates will be the first shows McCartney has played on home soil since 2015, while the Glasgow gig will be his first in Scotland for almost a decade.
The Freshen Up Tour will come hot on the heels of his new studio album Egypt Station, slated for release on September 7.
Confirmed to be joining McCartney are his band of the last 15 years: Paul Wickens on keyboard, Brian Ray on bass/guitar, Rusty Anderson on guitar and Abe Laboriel Jr on drums.
The news comes weeks after McCartney’s edition of Carpool Karaoke was released.
The segment, filmed with James Corden for his Late Late Show in the US, has amassed 24.7 million views on YouTube and received widespread acclaim.
McCartney’s last solo album was New, unveiled back in 2013.
Collaborators on Egypt Station include pop hitmaker Greg Kurstin and OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder.
