Malcom celebrates his first goal for Barcelona at the AT&T Stadium in Texas on Tuesday night

Malcom scored his first goal for Barcelona against the side he jilted to join the Spanish champions, but Roma had the last laugh as they roared back to win 4-2 in Texas.

Making his second appearance since the saga of his summer move ended with a £45.5million transfer to the Blaugrana, the Brazilian put his new side ahead five minutes into the second half.

However, the Italians staged a late fightback as goals from Alessandro Florenzi, Bryan Cristante and Diego Perotti’s penalty ensured victory.

Just shy of 55,000 fans attended the clash at the AT&T Stadium, home of NFL franchise the Dallas Cowboys, and barely five minutes had elapsed before they were treated to their first goal.

Rafinha and Munir El Haddadi combined well on the edge of the Roma penalty area, before the latter scooped a pass over the top of the defence for the former, the Brazilian showing measured composure to take the ball down and fire it beyond Robin Olsen.

Malcom was given his first sight of goal two minutes later and perhaps should have done better after bursting into the area, his effort though was too close to Olsen who saved with his right leg.

Instead the miss gave Roma’s batch of new talent the chance to shine, and they were level after 34 minutes, largely in thanks to a strong run by summer recruit Justin Kluivert.

The 19-year-old battled his way down the right flank and left the defence for dead before squaring for Stephan El Shaarawy to level the scoring.

The same player was denied a second just before the break by an offside flag, and moments after the break they found themselves behind.

Substitute Ballou Tabla persevered down the left-hand channel of the penalty area and his low ball across the face of goal was turned in by an unmarked Malcom, who was more than happy to celebrate his first goal for the club.

That was as good as it got for the Spanish giants however, as  Eusebio Di Francesco’s side staged a late fightback.

A swift break allowed Diego Perotti to square for Alessandro Florenzi, who’s blocked effort trickled over the line to bring the scores level once more.

Subsitute Cristante then put the Serie A side ahead for the first time on the night, turning well on the edge of the area to fire low beyond Jasper Cillessen.

And the scoring was complete after 86 minutes when Diego Perotti fired home from the spot after Patrik Schik had been brought down.
